BHS Planning and Conceptual Design
The combined talents of STS comprise over 100 years of BHS experience, providing expertise on more than 200 BHS/CBIS projects for more than 100 airports over the last 15 years. From master planning and conceptual studies to detailed design and bid documents, STS is adept at not only providing the full complement of design services but performs third party design and peer reviews for numerous clients as well. Specific design elements have included technologies such as conventional conveyor, Early Bag Storage (EBS) rack and lateral systems, and Individual Carrier Systems (ICS) including tote delivery systems, tilt tray and cross belt sorters, Destination-Coded Vehicles (DCV), and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV). Not only has STS designed the systems, but personnel literally “wrote the book” when it comes to TSA’s PGDS, having authored numerous portions of virtually every version since its inception. On behalf of the TSA, more than half of STS personnel continue in some capacity as TSA’s go-to group for reviewing airport-submitted CBIS designs for compliance.
