Project Description:
The Omaha Eppley Airfield (OMA) Terminal Modernization Program includes a comprehensive upgrade of the airport’s baggage handling systems to improve capacity, reliability, and compliance with current and future TSA requirements. As passenger volumes continue to grow, the BHS modernization is a critical component of ensuring efficient baggage processing while maintaining uninterrupted airport operations. The program addresses aging BHS infrastructure through the replacement and reconfiguration of conveyors, sortation equipment, and screening systems, including integration with TSA-compliant Checked Baggage Inspection Systems (CBIS).
As the Omaha Airport Authority’s (OAA) BHS owner’s representative, Studdiford Technical Solutions, LLC (STS) provides subject matter expertise, including design reviews (for both design and construction documentation), makes recommendations on RFI and submittal responses, factory acceptance test (FAT) witnessing, TSA liaison support, guidance on operational readiness and airport transition (ORAT), development of the BHS operations and maintenance (O&M) RFP, and testing and commissioning oversight. The BHS project scope includes the full turnkey outbound and inbound system, which includes a new CBIS and outbound sortation. The new BHS is designed to increase throughput, reduce operational bottlenecks, and improve system availability, supporting both current airline operations and long-term demand forecasts.
