The existing T3 bagroom at Chicago O’Hare International airport has been long overdue for an upgrade. The BHS equipment was aging and the bagroom needed to be upgraded. The new supplemental bagroom will enable American Airlines to service the BHS equipment and make repairs to the building structures.

The T3 Supplemental Bagroom program consists of three major phases. The first phase includes the installation a new Oversized (OS) line and decommissioning of existing OS operations. The second phase focuses on the installation of four flat plate claim devices that enable the demolition of the existing five flat plate claim devices. The last phase of the new supplemental bagroom involves the installation of 19 new sortation piers and an additional 3 sortation piers in the L stinger. During this phase, all of the feed lines will be tied to the new supplemental bagroom, leaving the existing bag basement decommissioned and ready for BHS and structural repairs. 

As a critical member of the Connect Chicago Alliance (CCA) Project Management Office (PMO) team, Studdiford Technical Solutions, LLC (STS) is providing BHS subject matter expertise for all facets of the program. For the Terminal 3 BHS replacement, this expertise includes design reviews (for both design and construction documentation), providing recommendations for BHS RFI responses, TSA RFV & CCR coordination for the OS subsystem, and leading the on-site commissioning and testing effort for all static mechanical/electrical, dynamic, functional, and TSA OS compliance commissioning.
